This month marks the two year anniversary since I starting my blog.

So much has happened over the past two years and I can honestly say that this blog is the best decision I’ve ever made! What started off as a little uni/passion project has grown into something I could never have imagined. Of course my blog is still small and I have a long way to go, but when I first started this website I never imagined I’d be getting the amazing opportunities I have today.

When I tell people I run a lifestyle blog, I’m often questioned on why I do it. There are so many factors behind the creation of this blog, some bigger than others. I wanted to write this post today to discuss my main reasons behind starting a blog and why I’m still blogging two years later.

Why I Started

Writing is something I’ve always been passionate about. I even wrote little stories as a kid. As I’ve grown, writing has become a big part of my life. When I was seventeen, I spent a short time writing about teenage/social issues for my local newspaper. I can’t even begin to describe what it felt like to see my articles published in print. Fast forward a couple of years and I’ve moved to London to study Journalism and Creative Writing.

I’d been following bloggers for a while before I started university and I’d often thought about creating my own blog. The main things that held me back was worrying that I wouldn’t have time to maintain one and worrying about what people might think.

Studying journalism gave me the kick start I really needed to finally start my own blog. One of my graded projects in my first year was to create my own website so took this as my opportunity.

At that point, I still worried about peoples opinions on it so I kept it to myself. It was just a place I’d come to every now and then to share my work and write about things that mattered to me. Originally, I wrote a lot of posts about social issues and things I was really passionate about. I still write posts like this occasionally, although it’s definitely something I want to write more frequently about and share with you guys.

Why I’m Still Blogging

It wasn’t until this year that I really started taking blogging seriously. I created social media profiles, created a schedule and started putting myself out there.

Not only has it helped me improve my skills as a writer, it’s also become a creative outlet for me. It’s also a sort of portfolio I’ll be able to use when applying for jobs in the future.

Although many different factors play into why I’m still blogging two years later, the main reason is because I enjoy writing. I love having a little place on the internet to write about whatever I want with no restrictions at all.

Over the past few months, this blog has brought me so many amazing opportunities. I’ve gotten the chance to work with brands I’d never of even dreamed of working with before. I’ve also been able to attend events and meet so many amazing people I never would have met if I hadn’t persisted with this blog.

There is a lot more I could say, but I didn’t intend for this to be a long, rambly post. To put it simply, I never thought that I’d be able to impact people through my writing and this blog has allowed me to do that. The comments and messages I get from people after reading one of my posts honestly means so much! Blogging has become a huge part of my life (especially over the past few months) and I’m so glad that I pushed myself to do it. I can’t wait to see what the next two years brings.

Tish xx
